One of the best and biggest pumpkin patches in the state is nestled in the heart of Wheatland, California. Yes--we are serious--you truly can spend an entire weekend at Bishop’s! Below are our top five picks for activities and attractions happening this month at the popular patch. Explore nearby accommodations so you can turn your trip into a fun weekend getaway!
The staff at Bishop’s has always been committed to the safety and well-being of their guests, and this year is no different. At BPF, they are taking extra steps this season to make certain visitors feel safe to visit amidst Covid-19 concerns. Read more about their cleaning and safety procedures.
1. BPF Railroad Line
Climb aboard for a pleasant open-air journey through the jumbo pumpkin fields, past the apple and walnut orchards, and right by the horse pasture. The BPF Line is a 24-inch gauge railroad with eight cars and a diesel locomotive all built by the Bishops. There’s nothing quite like the gentle rocking and clickety-clack of an old-fashioned train ride.
2. Coyote Mountain Mine
Since 2001, Coyote Mountain Mine has been the leading marble mine in the nation. It has been the source of thousands upon thousands of marbles taken 10 at a time by children looking to make their fortune in marbles. Since you're already there, why not take a trip down the two thrilling slides banked on the rolling mountainside.
3. Charlie’s Carousel
This historic carousel came to BPF in 2014 after losing it’s home at the Balboa Fun Zone in Newport Beach, CA. Prior to it’s stay in Newport, Charlie’s Carousel lived at Santa’s Village in Scotts Valley, CA. This timelessly classic ride will give you a nostalgic feeling as you make new memories on one of its stunning horses.
4. The Zipline
See the best views of the farm when you climb up the 30-foot tower to zip down! Grab a friend and take a high-flying adventure down 200 feet of wire! This attraction is not for the faint of heart. Guests must be between 50 and 250 pounds to ride the zipline.
5. Cider Mill
Visit The Cider Mill to see how BPF makes their famous Apple Cider, process pumpkins for their award-winning pies, and make traditional caramel apples! Browse the local food products and gift shop items while sampling our roasted almonds or other delicious foods available at The Cider Mill.
