Take a Trip Outdoors this Spring

Spring is just around the corner, so it is time to start planning all the outdoor activities that come with the changing seasons. Is your favorite Springtime activity bird-watching? Or fishing? Sometimes the most fun thing is taking a break and relaxing at a campsite. Whatever you like to do in the Spring, Yuba-Sutter has the perfect place. There are numerous wildlife areas and many outdoor recreation spots, so plan your trip to Yuba-Sutter this Spring.
Grey Lodge
The Yuba-Sutter region rests on a section of the Pacific Flyway, a major North-South flyway for migratory birds. Each year at least a billion birds migrate along the Pacific Flyway. Gray Lodge Wildlife Area is the perfect place to view many of these birds this spring. There are a couple of foot trails that you can walk and an auto loop if you would prefer to drive around the wildlife.
Gray Lodge is home to reflective ponds, grassy fields, and wooded areas that provide shelter for over 300 different migratory and regional animals. You can find a comprehensive list of birds in the area that shows frequency and when they are typically found here.
Collins Lake

Do you love to fish? Collins Lake is getting ready for trout season. They have been stocking the lake weekly since the beginning of February and will continue until May. So if you enjoy fishing for trout, this is the place for you. Collins Lake is the largest private planting program North of Sacramento, planting around 50,000 trout every year.
Do you need somewhere to stay for your trip? Collins Lake even has cabins and rental trailers for those who prefer a good night's sleep over sleeping on the ground. These cabins are just a short walk down to the lake.
Bullards Bar

Bullards Bar has unique options for your next outdoor adventure. This beautiful location is situated in the Yuba Foothills and is home to Emerald Cove Marina, where you can fish or rent a houseboat for your stay.
Kokanee Salmon fishing ramps up in the Spring at Emerald Cove Marina. They are a landlocked species that can often be found near the dam. The Kokanee Salmon fishing at Bullards Bar has a reputation for being some of the best in Northern California. Depending on the time of year, you can also find many other types of fish in the reservoir, including trout, bass, crappie, and bluegill.
Bullards Bar also offers a unique way to stay on the water. There are five different types of houseboats that can sleep anywhere from 10 to 18 people. All the houseboats offer amenities like water slides, jacuzzis, full kitchens, and air conditioning.
