’Tis the Season in Yuba Sutter
by Leah Champagne
There’s no better place to get into the holiday spirit than in Yuba Sutter. Something about our neck of the woods just sings of holiday cheer and there’s no shortage of events that celebrate the mood. The whole family will enjoy kicking off December up north (North California, that is) when you book your fun-filled weekend here.

Museum Trees & Traditions Gala
Come to Yuba City the first weekend in December to take part in the swankiest event of the season. The holiday gala at Sutter County Museum is a high class evening, complete with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, live music, and, of course, Christmas decorations.
The Trees & Traditions Gala is an annual fundraiser for the museum. The event will be held on December 2 from 6-10 p.m. It’s an adults only event and tickets are $50 per person. Each ticket includes two drinks. Get your tickets today and plan your weekend stay in Yuba City!

Marysville Christmas Parade
If you’re looking for a family activity that weekend, make a plan to attend the 71st annual Marysville Christmas Parade on December 3. It’s fun for the whole family and there’s more to do than just watching floats.
You can run the 5k in the morning, enjoy cuisine from a local restaurant for lunch, and send the kids to do crafts and activities in the Kid’s Zone. Then, when the sun starts to set, you can line up to see the processions of beautifully decorated floats meander through historic Marysville.
Activities are available throughout the day and the parade starts at 5 p.m. This year’s theme is “Christmastime in Santa’s Workshop.”

A Christmas Stroll
Spend your afternoon strolling through downtown Yuba City, enjoying the holiday decorations and popping into shops along Plumas Street. The annual Christmas Stroll is designed to highlight local businesses and vendors, as well as bring the community together to build some holiday spirit.
The stroll is open from 2-8 p.m. on December 10. There will be a Kid’s Zone where children can enjoy holiday treats, make crafts, meet Santa, and listen to Mrs. Claus read “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” They’ll also provide cookies and cocoa!
While your kids hang out with the Clauses, you can enjoy local eateries and peruse storefronts in the shopping district. You’re sure to find unique gifts for the whole family!

The Swingin’ Sounds of the Holidays
For those couples who want a fun date night that’s more than just dinner and a movie, come up to Yuba City on December 17 for the Yuba Sutter Big Band’s Swinging Holiday Sounds concert. From 6-9 p.m., the band will take the stage at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts, playing all your holiday favorites.
Enjoy the swinging sounds of trumpets, trombones, drums and other jazzy instruments as the band takes an upbeat approach to the joys of holiday music. And if you want to make it a late night date night, stop by The City Club after for drinks and dinner.
Get in the Holiday Spirit
Don’t miss out on the holiday spirit this year. Shake up your usual routine and spend a December weekend in Yuba Sutter. There’s fun for the whole family or just an adults’ weekend away.
